Pet Portrait FAQ
What, exactly, is the process?
Send Photos; Photos taken outside are best, if that's not possible,
try by a well-lit window, 4-6 feet away is good. Avoid photos looking straight down at
your pet and try getting down on their level.
GOOD PHOTOS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GOOD PAINTING AND A GREAT ONE!
Try to send the clearest photos possible.
If you wish to send photographs by mail, that works too!
They will be sent back to you with the finished painting.
After photos have been uploaded, and you have decided on a size,
I will begin by cropping and editing for the best fit onto the canvas.
The background color will be discussed, as well as any features you might like added to the painting.
The addition of any features, such as other pets or landscapes, will require an additional charge, which will be agreed upon at the time of commission..
A mock-up of your portrait will be sent back to you within 7 days for final approval.
Once the mockup has been approved, a deposit of 50% is required to begin the painting. Deposits are nonrefundable.
How long will it take?
In general, 4-6 weeks is the standard turn around time for a portrait.
Because I work in acrylics, dry time is faster than oil, and my method of
packing ensures that paint will not be touched while in carton.
Ultimately, a much better idea of wait time is determined by work load at
time of ordering, and time of year, a more precise answer can be given at time of order.
Can I get updates?
For Sure! I will contact you (if requested) at around the halfway point. I'll send a couple of photos for review, and if you have any changes in mind, this will be the time to discuss them.
I can make up to three minor changes. After that, additional charges may apply.
Painting is finished... now what?
I'll contact you as soon as the portrait is finished, and send along photos.
Once you are satisfied with the final product, payment for the balance is required before sending it out.
